Here, at St Benet’s, Year 5 and 6 are given the fantastic opportunity to spend a week taking part in outdoor activities in the beautiful surroundings of the Lake District. Not only, do they get to sample the amazing scenery, they also get the chance to take part in activities that they might never do again such as gorge walking, canoeing and mountain walking.
Even though the weather was, at times, against us this year, the children thoroughly enjoyed their week in the Lakes, from the making of their own beds-yes they managed to put sheets and quilts on the bed- to the varied activities they encountered. Each and every one tried something they thought they couldn’t do and were delighted with themselves when they succeeded. I know they can’t wait to go again next year to see what new challenges await them.
