In the Sunday Times on Sunday 20th November 2016, St Benet’s were ranked as 99th in the UK’s TOP 200 Primary Schools! This achievement was based on the combined scores of Level 5 attainment in Reading, Writing and Maths in Key Stage Two SATS during the period 2013-2015. This is a wonderful recognition for our primary school, highlighting how dedicated our staff, children, parents and governors work in our ‘happy and holy place of learning!’
Due to the strike of teaching assistants on Tuesday 8th and Wednesday 9th November, our Nursery will be closed on those days to our Nursery children. All other classes will resume as normal.
Last week we received two letters which were sent to school on the same day. One letter was from Bishop Seamus who was congratulating us on our wonderful RE Inspection Report and the other was from Nick Gibb, MP Minister of State for School Standards, Department for Education. Mr Gibb was congratulating our school for the fantastic Year 1 phonics screening results in June 2016.
Both letters are certainly worth a read! Click on the link below…
Our Diocesan inspection for Religious Education took place on Monday 3rd and Tuesday 4th October. The overall outcome was OUTSTANDING which is fantastic news for everyone in our school. Please click on the link below to read the full report.

On Friday 16th September, St Benet’s welcomed our new Reception children into our school community with the help of their Year 6 buddies. As Jesus said ‘Let the little children come to me’ (Matthew19:14). We are so happy to welcome these little children into our school family and hope that they have many happy times ahead.
Starting this term, we shall send an RE newsletter out to parents to inform you of the topics that your child shall be covering during Religious Education each term. They also give you some wonderful ideas that you can do with your child at home, to deepen their understanding and to share some spiritual family time.
A huge welcome back to our children and families after the summer break! I am sure that this year will be filled with fun, excitement, challenge and success.
