Mrs Hanley

A little bit about me..

I am a HLTA (Higher Level Teaching Assistant) at St Benet’s RC Primary School and have worked here for 18 wonderful years.  I support English in Year 1 and Maths in Year 4 each morning and lead the music curriculum throughout the school.  My love of music reflects through the children and I am privileged to direct our wonderful school choir. I have been a catechist for many years, this involves preparing the Year 4 children for the Sacraments of Reconciliation & First Holy Communion.  In addition to this, I run the weekly running club. Outside of school I enjoy walking, running, mountain climbing, swimming & cycling.

My favourite children’s book is…
Dogger by Shirley Hughes.  The story is heart warming with beautiful illustrations.  The book takes me back to my children’s childhood, with wonderful memories of quality time spent reading many stories by Shirley Hughes.

The thing I love about St Benet’s (my second home!) is…
the list is endless, but if there was one thing I would chose it would have to be Read, Write Inc.  I am passionate about delivering and enhancing the learning in RWINC lessons.  The impact the programme has on the children is evident.  It’s so rewarding to see the children progress with their reading and writing skills, spelling and speed sounds.  We have lots of fun too with ‘Fred Frog’!
